Hurghada
It was only a matter of time before Hurghada's blend of beach and reefs, weather and culture was squarely in the
spotlight of international tourism, and this once sleepy fishing village has managed to soak up tourists without
sacrificing its laid back charms and easy-going Egyptian way of life - unlike it's man made cousin across the
Red Sea, Sharm El Sheikh. Despite its growth, Hurghada remains addictively enjoyable - this is a city in
transition with Main Street welcoming new bars and bazaars every season as more tourists are drawn to its mix of
lively nightlife and easy summer days. Not that you'll be spending all day stretched out on Hurghada's pristine
sands - like all Egypt holidays there's far too much to do. Water sports enthusiasts will be in heaven - the warm
sparkling waters of the Red Sea seem to lure and coax the hidden aquatic athlete in everyone who visits
Hurghada. And with windsurfing, kite surfing, diving, snorkelling, parasailing and catamaran riding to experience
it's not surprising. Islands near Hurghada offer even more fun. Giftun Island is a snorkeller's dream - and you
can end your exploration with a fish barbecue on the beach. When you're tired of splashing about in the sea, you
can enjoy the boutiques, visit the Roman Mons Porphyrites (mountain of porphyry) remains at nearby Gebel Abu
Dukhan. Excursions and safaris set off to explore the Red Sea Mountains by camel and Jeep - the fascinating land
of Egypt is just a daytrip away. There's every possibility to explore, enjoy and be entranced by the magic of
Egypt from Hurghada, the Red Sea's lively, all-welcoming resort. But, back in the town, with its bazaars,
mosques and lively atmosphere typical Egyptian life is all around you.
